Tupi Animal Lore

Tupi Animal Lore is a settlement technology available to players allied with the Tupi. Researching it costs 50 Wood and 50 Coin and takes 10 seconds. It unlocks production of the Pet Cougar Buttercup at Town Centers and Heroes; a Battleship can also train Buttercup after the Brethren of the Coast Home City Card is sent. This expands the available production locations for the pet rather than granting Buttercup automatically.

Enables Buttercup the Pet Cougars to be trained at Town Centers, Hero (Age of Empires III), and also [[Battleships if the "Brethren of the Coast" card is sent.

Effect & research conditions

Research at a Trading Post or Tambo on a Tupi settlement, then use an eligible Town Center or Hero to train Buttercup. The naval production option has an additional requirement: send Brethren of the Coast before a Battleship can train the pet. Keep population space and the unit’s use in mind when choosing where to produce it.

Research condition

Available to a player allied with Tupi; researched at a Trading Post or Tambo on a Tupi settlement; costs 50 Wood and 50 Coin; 10-second research time; unlocks Buttercup at Town Centers and Heroes; Battleships require Brethren of the Coast.

When to research

Take the technology when the additional Pet Cougar is useful and its production access fits the map or army plan. If the naval option is the goal, confirm that the required Home City Card has been sent. The modest cost does not make the research a direct unit delivery; training still follows after the unlock.

Unlocks Buttercup production rather than delivering the pet

Tupi Animal Lore enables Pet Cougar Buttercup to be trained at Town Centers and Heroes after the technology is researched. A Battleship can also train Buttercup, but only after the Brethren of the Coast Home City Card has been sent. The technology therefore grants access to production locations; the player still needs to train the unit and provide population space.

A low-cost option tied to the map and card plan

Research costs 50 Wood and 50 Coin, takes ten seconds and requires a Trading Post or Tambo on a Tupi settlement. It is useful when access to a Tupi site and an eligible producer make Buttercup relevant to the match. If the goal is naval production, include the additional card requirement in the plan instead of expecting the technology alone to enable the Battleship option.
