Player approach
Brother against Brother begins with El Cid alone, then opens into an economy mission after he recovers his horse and King Sancho supplies an army. Complete the scripted opening before choosing a settlement.
Step-by-step plan
Defeat the Two-Handed Swordsman with El Cid, travel north to the horse pen, and return mounted to handle the Knight. When the Villagers and army arrive, cross the river with El Cid to convert the Serfs and their farms and camps. Establish a Town Center north of the cliffs by the woodline, then produce Villagers and build the economy before pursuing the rest of the objective.
Risks and adjustments
Do not expose El Cid while he is still unmounted or send the whole army into rugged ground. The converted Serfs are the opening economy; secure them before investing in forward production.
