Mangudai Madness upgrade-and-micro plan

Mangudai Madness tests mounted-archer kiting while wood limits Castle Age research and food limits Imperial Age upgrades. Prioritize the upgrades that keep the army accurate and responsive, then preserve the Mangudai mass for controlled engagements.

Overview

Mangudai Madness tests mounted-archer kiting while wood limits Castle Age research and food limits Imperial Age upgrades. Prioritize the upgrades that keep the army accurate and responsive, then preserve the Mangudai mass for controlled engagements.

Plan and execution

Use Mangudai to hit and withdraw rather than trading shots in place. In Castle Age, secure Ballistics and Thumb Ring alongside the core attack and range improvements, adjusting the order if the base is under immediate threat. Save food during the transition so Elite Mangudai and the Imperial Age upgrades can be researched promptly; continue producing only enough units to maintain a useful mass. Use movement to avoid melee contact and keep a safe route back to the base.

Risks and adaptation

Wood and food compete with technology and unit production at different stages. Do not research every upgrade at once or let a small Mangudai group get surrounded; retreat when terrain or enemy cavalry removes the space needed to kite.
