Autoqueue
Autoqueue is a term for repeated or automatically continuing unit production in Age of Empires III, but it is not a universal command that makes every Barracks, Stable or Town Center repeat any selected unit. The useful player-facing distinction is whether a unit has a built-in automatic production rule. Ottoman Yörüks, for example, spawn automatically at the Town Center instead of being manually trained like ordinary Settlers.

Scope in Age of Empires III
For the Ottomans, Town Centers generate Yörüks until the current population limit is reached; Mosque technologies change their production rate and limit. This is a civilization system, not the normal queue behavior of every worker-producing building. Other buildings with automatic unit generation, such as the Japanese Dojo, use their own production selection and rules. Ordinary military units still require the player to queue them at an available production building unless a particular card, unit or scenario explicitly grants an automatic process.
How automatic production works
Before planning around an “autoqueue,” check the exact unit and building entry to see whether production is automatic, manually repeatable or controlled by a separate building choice. Ottoman players should keep Town Center space and the Yörük train limit in mind, then research the relevant Mosque improvements when their economy needs faster or larger worker production.
How automatic production behaves in Age of Empires III
Autoqueue keeps an eligible unit in production without requiring the player to issue the same command after every completion. When the unit cannot be produced—for example, because the player lacks the required resources or available population, or has reached a unit limit—the automatic order pauses and can resume once production is possible again. This is different from simply placing several units in a manual queue: the automatic setting continues the chosen production pattern. The setting can be paused when the player needs to preserve resources for an age-up, technology or another unit type. Because eligibility depends on the unit and building, check the relevant unit entry rather than assuming every Barracks, Stable or Town Center can repeat any unit.
Yörüks and civilization-specific production
Yörüks are a named example of a unit that can be set to autoqueue. They are an Ottoman economic unit that replaces the Settler and is generated at the Town Center; Ottoman production rules and Mosque improvements determine its pace and capacity. The important player decision is to keep the Town Center supplied with the necessary room and to use the Mosque options that fit the desired worker growth. The ordinary Ottoman worker system is not the same as manually training a military unit at a Barracks. Other civilizations and buildings can have their own automatic generation or selectable production behavior, so the same interface concept may appear through different rules. Always distinguish a unit-specific autoqueue from a building that creates a unit as part of its civilization bonus.
Managing resources, population and production mix
Autoqueue trades repeated attention for a predictable use of resources. A Town Center set to continue worker production can spend Food as soon as each new unit becomes available, while a military building can keep adding a chosen troop type. If several buildings use the same resource, automatic production can consume it before an intended shipment, age-up or technology is affordable. Population limits and unit caps also matter: production cannot continue indefinitely just because the setting remains active. Pause or change an order when the army composition needs to shift, when the economy must save for a major cost, or when the unit cap has been reached. The feature is most useful for stable, repeatable production after the player has secured a resource stream and decided on a composition.
Practical use during a match
At the start of a match, prioritize the production that unlocks the next strategic step instead of enabling every available automatic queue. Once the economy is stable, use autoqueue for a dependable stream of workers or a core army unit, then watch resource and population totals as the match changes. A unit that is useful in the opening may become the wrong choice after the opponent adds a counter; automatic production does not adapt its own composition to scouting information. Revisit the selected production after each major engagement and pause it when resources should be redirected. In team games, coordinate with allies before repeating a unit line that competes for shared strategic resources or leaves the combined army without another role.
