Gift Ceremony

Gift Ceremony is an Exploration Age option at the Community Plaza in Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs and Definitive Edition. Native American civilizations use it to increase Experience generation, helping Home City shipments become available sooner.

Gift Ceremony

Effect & access

Villagers assigned to the Plaza perform the ceremony and add an Experience trickle under the active civilization’s rules. Experience advances shipment availability but is separate from Food, Wood and Coin. The ceremony does not choose a Home City card or deliver one by itself; the player still needs to earn the shipment and select a useful card.

When to perform it

Choose Gift Ceremony when an earlier shipment can support the opening, defend an exposed position or arrive for a planned army timing. Compare its Experience gain with the resources those Villagers could gather elsewhere, and account for Treasures and Trading Posts that can also advance shipments. It is an economic allocation decision, not an automatic best choice throughout the match.

Plaza workers have an opportunity cost

Assigning Villagers to Gift Ceremony trades some direct gathering for faster shipment progress. The value depends on how soon the next card matters and how many workers remain available for the standard economy. If a shipment is far away or no card suits the current plan, another Plaza ceremony may provide more immediate value. Revisit the assignment as the match changes instead of leaving the Plaza on one option without regard to the next timing.
