Research condition
Exploration Age at a Trading Post or Tambo on a Lakota settlement; cost: 250 Wood and 250 Coin; research time: 10 seconds.
When to research
Research before keeping the affected production sites active. The largest reduction applies to Cavalry, Shock troops and the two named army types, so compare it with the units the opponent is forcing you to replace. Idle production does not repay the cost; its value comes from repeated queues and faster response to losses.
Production speed is the benefit
Horse Trading does not increase unit health or damage. It shortens the queue, which matters when the player expects to train several of the listed groups or needs reinforcements during a continuing fight. If the army is already strong enough and production will pause, the research has little immediate impact. Use the settlement’s access and the current match’s unit mix to decide when to spend.
