Mass Cavalry

Mass Cavalry is an Industrial Age technology in the standard civilization roster, with an earlier Commerce Age route for specific African civilizations. It reduces Cavalry training time and is researched at a civilization-dependent Church, Mosque, Meeting House, Cathedral or Basilica. The building and age are part of its availability, not interchangeable access for every civilization.

Cavalry train time -35%

Effect

The current standard research costs 750 Coin and takes five seconds, reducing Cavalry training time by 35%. African civilization access uses the 750 Influence option instead of the standard Coin cost and can be available from the Commerce Age through the relevant alliance route. Churches serve eligible European civilizations, Ethiopians and Japanese; Hausa and Ottomans use a Mosque, the United States a Meeting House, Mexicans a Cathedral, and Italians a Basilica. Before Definitive Edition, the research took 15 seconds and reduced training time by 50%.

Research condition

Current Definitive Edition: standard access at Industrial Age; African civilization access may be available from Commerce Age through its eligible route. 750 Coin and five seconds for the standard option; the African alliance route instead costs 750 Influence. Cavalry training time -35%. Earlier version: 15 seconds and -50%. Research building varies by civilization: Church, Mosque, Meeting House, Cathedral or Basilica.

Research decision

Research it before sustained Cavalry production so later units benefit from the shorter queue. Its value depends on continuing to train Cavalry from an eligible building; it does not upgrade units already on the field. The five-second duration is short, but the 750-resource commitment should still be compared with immediate production, especially if only one or two Cavalry are planned.

Age and alliance access are not uniform

Most listed civilizations receive the technology in the Industrial Age. Ethiopians can access a Church through the Jesuit Alliance, while Hausa can use a Mosque through the Moroccan Alliance; those African routes make it available from the Commerce Age for 750 Influence. Check the current alliance and building before planning a timing attack.

The reduction affects training time only

Mass Cavalry shortens the queue for later Cavalry production. It does not add hit points, damage or speed to units that have already been trained. The older Definitive Edition-era value was a 50% reduction with a 15-second research time; the current standard profile is 35% and five seconds.
