Rice Paddy Rickshaw

Rice Paddy Rickshaw is an Asian construction wagon that places a Rice Paddy without its usual Wood cost. The resulting building is a renewable Food or Coin gathering site, so the wagon links a shipment or scenario reward directly to the economic plan of a civilization that can use Rice Paddies.

Role, availability & values

The Rickshaw has 250 hit points and 4.0 speed in its recorded profile. Move it to a safe position and deploy it as a Rice Paddy; it is a one-purpose builder, not a gatherer. After placement, Villagers work at the Paddy and its selected Food or Coin mode determines which resource it supplies. Availability depends on the civilization and the Home City or scenario content that provides the wagon.

Matchup & timing

Use the free Paddy when it can secure renewable gathering or save Wood for military production, but place it where workers can be protected. Decide which resource mode the economy needs before assigning Villagers, and reassess it when the next Age-up, unit queue or technology changes the resource demand.

Asian shipment and Chinese age-up access

The Rice Paddy Rickshaw is a shipment wagon available to Asian civilizations and builds a Rice Paddy without its ordinary Wood cost. It moves at 4.0 speed, has 250 hit points and 20% siege resistance, then is consumed when the Paddy is placed. The completed building lets Villagers gather either Food or Coin, so it supplies a renewable economy whose resource can be changed to match the army plan. The Rickshaw builds at the normal construction rate; it does not work as a Villager or collect resources while travelling. Since update 61213, the Chinese receive three Rice Paddy Rickshaws when they advance to the Industrial Age using the Temple of Heaven. Related Home City shipments can also provide the wagon to eligible Asian civilizations. Place it where enough workers can gather safely and decide whether Food or Coin is the immediate priority before relying on its output.

Where the free economic structure fits

Rice Paddy Rickshaws appear in Home City shipments and, for the Chinese, three are granted when the Temple of Heaven is used for the Industrial Age under the current Definitive Edition rule. This gives a Chinese player several free placements during a late-game transition, while the usual shipment access is tied to the Asian civilization’s deck. The Rickshaw is consumed to build the Rice Paddy, so it is not a reusable worker and cannot gather while travelling. After construction, assign Villagers and select Food or Coin based on the active production plan. It builds at the normal rate, so escorting it to a site matters on a contested map. The building saves Wood that could instead fund military production, but its economic return depends on how many Villagers can work safely and whether the selected resource remains useful.
