Saguenay
Saguenay is a resource-rich coastal map available in summer and winter layouts. It contains extensive forests, Silver Mines, Deer, Elk and Moose on land, plus Salmon and Beluga Whales in the water. A Trade Route and Cree and Huron settlements add competition for map control, while a standard Discovery Age start may include a random extra economic building.

Map character
Check which extra building the start provides, then scout the Trade Route orientation and Native settlement locations. The route can run horizontally with three to five sites or vertically with three; Cree settlements are on the east and Huron on the west. Locate the bay and water resources as well as replacement Mines and Hunts, since plentiful resources can still create exposed gathering lines.
What to scout
Use the extra starting building and natural resources to grow efficiently, but choose expansion sites that can be defended. Trade Posts, Native alliances, fishing and whaling can all contribute, yet spreading the army across every objective may leave workers exposed. Reassess the plan as local Mines or Hunts are depleted and the seasons alter the map’s appearance.
Choose which resource front to support
Saguenay offers land and water income, but each requires workers and protection. Fishing and whaling can reduce pressure on land Hunts, while the interior Trade Route and Native settlements draw military attention. Use scouting to identify the safest sources first, then add a second economic front only when the army can defend both. The extra starting building varies, so adapt the opening to what the map actually provides.
