San Martin
San Martin is Argentina’s unique hero in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, delivered by the San Martin Home City Card during the Argentina Revolution. The shipment brings a mounted force with him, so his value is tied to the timing and survival of that group.

Role, availability & values
The card costs 1,200 Coin and sends San Martin with 15 Mounted Granaderos and 10 Legion Dragoons. The hero has 1,000 hit points, 40% ranged resistance, 6.5 speed and 20 Line of Sight. His hand attack deals 32 damage, his siege attack 32 damage at range 6, and his Trample attack 32 damage in an area of effect of 4. He collapses rather than dying at zero hit points; a friendly unit or building can revive him after he regenerates to 100 hit points, or the player can pay 100 Coin at a Town Center for the scenario’s ransom recovery.
Matchup & timing
Time the card for a fight where the combined cavalry shipment can arrive together. Keep San Martin with the Mounted Granaderos and Legion Dragoons, use Trample against clustered targets, and avoid leaving him surrounded by Heavy Infantry. If he falls, weigh a 100-Coin Town Center ransom against protecting the recovery area until an ally can revive him.
A combined shipment, not an isolated hero card
The Argentina Home City Card sends San Martin, 15 Mounted Granaderos and 10 Legion Dragoons together for 1,200 Coin. Plan population and a rally route for the full group before sending it. San Martin’s trample area attack supports a cavalry push, but the accompanying units provide the force needed to protect his approach and continue the fight after he uses his attacks. This is a one-time revolutionary shipment, not a hero that can be queued repeatedly from a Stable.
Recovery and the difference from Simon Bolivar
San Martin can recover from a collapse in two ways: keep a friendly unit or building nearby until he regenerates to 100 hit points, or use the 100-Coin ransom at a Town Center. Protect the location while he recovers and decide whether the army can afford the ransom immediately. Unlike Simon Bolivar, San Martin does not provide an attack or hit-point aura to nearby units. Treat him as a durable combat hero who leads the shipped cavalry, not as the revolution’s army-wide buffer.
