Effect

The upgrade applies to the listed farm-like sources rather than hunted animals. Its broad source list makes it useful across civilizations with different renewable Food buildings, while the Hacienda auto-gather effect is specific to that building.

Research condition

Available in the Commerce Age at Mill, Hacienda. Research time: 30 seconds. Cost: 150 wood, 150 coin. Civilization-specific building access can vary.

Research decision

Research as your economy shifts from Hunts to renewable Food, or when Villagers already work the affected buildings. It has less immediate value if most Food still comes from animals or livestock.

Food gathering at renewable buildings

Seed Drill is a Commerce Age technology researched at a Mill or Hacienda. It costs 150 Wood and 150 Coin, takes 30 seconds and increases Villager gathering from Mills, Farms, Food Rice Paddies, Food Fields and Food Haciendas by 15%. Hacienda automatic Food gathering also improves by 15%. Artificial Fertilizer follows it.

Use it where workers will stay

The upgrade applies across several Food-building types, which can support a long-term economy after Hunts run low. Research when the workforce will remain on those sources and the structure can be protected. Include the later technology in the plan only if the match lasts long enough to repay the chain.
