Siwa Oasis

Siwa Oasis is a Definitive Edition map from The African Royals, set in western Egypt. Narrow corridors and small passes divide a desert depression containing a strip of trees, freshwater oases and Salt Mines. There is no Trade Route, so the usual route-post strategy does not apply.

Map character

The terrain offers early defensive walling across small passes, but much of the Wood is centralized. Later expansion beyond the initial safe area is needed to reach that supply. Berbers, Sudanese and Sufi Mosque are listed Minor Civilization settlements; Corsair Marksmen and Desert Warriors are listed Outlaws. Explore the corridors and treasure locations before choosing a forward settlement, and check the match layout because resource positions can vary.

What to scout

Siwa Oasis is well suited to a defensive opening or Treaty match, but a sealed base eventually needs an expansion plan. Use the passes to delay an attack, then secure a route to centralized Wood and other resources before the starting area runs short. With no Trade Route, prioritize the economy and alliances available on the map rather than investing in route posts that do not exist.

No Trade Route changes the economic plan

Siwa Oasis has no Trade Route despite lying near several historic trading regions. Do not plan shipment progress around Trade Posts on a route. The map’s economy instead revolves around local resources, settlement alliances and the timing of expansion from the initial defensible area.

Passes are useful but do not solve the Wood supply

Small passes can be walled to create early security, but the map centralizes much of its Wood. A compact base can therefore become resource constrained if it never expands. Scout the next woodline and secure an approach while the passes are still protected; an opening wall buys time, not a permanent supply.
