Effect & research conditions
Somali players research it at a Trading Post or Tambo on a Somali kingdom. Ethiopians can use a Mountain Monastery while the Somali Alliance is active. It costs 250 Food and 250 Wood plus 450 Influence for African civilizations, and takes 40 seconds. Trade Route Food, Wood, Coin, Experience and Influence inventory increases by 30%; Fishing Ships gather from whales 10% faster; Villagers gather from mines, Tribal Marketplaces and Mountain Monasteries 10% faster; Abun gathering at Mountain Monasteries also rises by 10%.
Research condition
Available from the Exploration Age. Research it at Trading Post or Tambo on a Somali kingdom or Mountain Monastery (Ethiopians with the Somali Alliance).
When to research
Choose it when the map and economy can use several of its separate bonuses: active Trade Routes, whale resources and workers or Abun at the named sites. If none of those sources is available, the 40-second delay and resource cost will have little return. Ethiopian access depends on the Somali Alliance, so confirm that alliance before planning the research.
Trade Route and naval effects
Trade Route Food, Wood, Coin, Experience and Influence inventory increase by 30%. Fishing Ships separately gain 10% gathering from whales. These benefits depend on a functioning route or available whale resources; they do not improve ordinary fishing from fish schools.
Workers and Abun at African sites
Villager gathering from mines, Tribal Marketplaces and Mountain Monasteries increases by 10%; Abun also gather 10% faster at Mountain Monasteries. Somali players research at a Trading Post or Tambo on a Somali kingdom. Ethiopians need the Somali Alliance and can research at a Mountain Monastery. African civilizations pay 450 Influence in addition to 250 Food and 250 Wood.
