Age-up reward & access

Selected for the Fortress Age; available to Danes; French; Germans; Italians; Ottomans; Poles; Portuguese; Swedes. The recorded advance cost is 1,200 Food and 1,000 Coin and takes 105 seconds. Reward details: Fortress Age reward: See article. The available choices and exact reward depend on civilization and game release.

When to choose it

Choose The Marksman when its listed reward supports the next economic or military objective. Compare its cost and advance time with other available politicians, and check that the reward belongs to the current civilization and release.

Civilization rewards and army preparation

The Marksman advances its civilization to the Fortress Age for 1,200 Food and 1,000 Coin over 105 seconds, then delivers a civilization-specific force to the Home City shipment point. Danes and Italians receive six Musketeers, or nine with Advanced Politicians; French and Germans receive six Skirmishers; Ottomans receive four Abus Gunners; Poles receive six Piechurs; Portuguese receive six Cassadores; Swedes receive two Leather Cannons. These are not interchangeable rewards: the exact unit type changes how the player should follow up. The politician is broadly suited to an early Fortress Age attack, especially when the supplied force answers the opponent’s army. Most of its infantry options have bonuses against Heavy Infantry, while the Swedish cannons provide area damage against infantry and need protection from cavalry. Prepare a Home City deck that supports the actual reward: unit upgrades or production support can increase the value of the shipment, and a separate shipment can cover the force’s counters. Swedes can pair the choice with artillery support such as Julita Styckebruk or Case Shot where those cards are available. The Marksman should be compared with other age-up politicians, including The Adventurer, before committing. Its appeal is immediate military tempo, but the army still needs an economy to reinforce after the initial shipment. Availability is limited to the listed civilizations and can vary by release; check the civilization-specific page before assuming that the same age-up reward exists in another version.

Choosing it against the opponent

The Marksman’s value is the immediate composition delivered on age-up. Before selecting it, identify the enemy’s main threat and compare the incoming units with the alternatives offered by other Fortress Age politicians. Skirmishers or Cassadores can pressure Heavy Infantry, Abus Gunners provide a different ranged attack profile, and Musketeers offer a more direct mixed-role infantry force. Piechurs are specific to the Polish reward; Swedes receive Leather Cannons instead of infantry and therefore need a protective screen against cavalry. The shipment can turn an age transition into pressure, but it is not a complete army: add production buildings and follow-up units that cover its weaknesses. Since the advance takes 105 seconds and costs both Food and Coin, preserve enough economy to continue producing Villagers and reinforce after the first attack. A deck with Advanced Politicians changes the Danish and Italian Musketeer count from six to nine; it does not make every civilization’s reward larger. Cards that improve the supplied unit types can improve the payoff, but they should be weighed against economy and counter-unit shipments. This politician is available only to the listed civilizations and The Baltic Powers-era entries may not share all details with the original game. Use the relevant civilization page to verify the current reward, and compare The Adventurer or other available politicians when a safer scouting or economic age-up is more valuable than an immediate military force.

Fortress Age politician and timing

The Marksman is a Fortress Age politician available to Danes, French, Germans, Italians, Ottomans, Poles, Portuguese and Swedes in the recorded profile. Advancing costs 1,200 Food and 1,000 Coin and takes 105 seconds. The reward is civilization-specific, so the name alone does not identify one universal shipment or technology. Check the exact age-up preview before selecting it and compare the result with the other available politicians. The long advance time rewards starting from a defensible position and maintaining enough production to survive while the resources are committed.

Read the reward before building a strategy

Because the recorded reward is not a single shared effect, players should use the faction-specific interface and article for the selected civilization. A reward that supports a military timing may be valuable when the army can engage as soon as it arrives; another nation’s result may instead serve a different role. Do not borrow a unit count from a guide written for another civilization or patch. Weigh the 105-second window against the value of the reward, whether the opponent can exploit the age-up and what resources remain for the next queue. The Marksman is one option in the Fortress Age system, not a unit profile shared across all factions.
