Overview

With a larger rebel force, Le Loi moves to seize the old capital and cut off Ming control in the south. Gather local support and siege Hanoi’s central defenses, then meet the mountain rebels who can join the struggle.

Player approach

The Battle at Hanoi gives Le Loi a small mobile force before a full economy is available. Build strength by freeing countryside resources and gathering reinforcements while controlling when the Ming begin producing.

Step-by-step plan

Keep Le Loi and the starting Light Cavalry, Long Swordsmen, and Imperial Skirmishers together while scouting routes around towers and barricades. Collect the nearby allied units and use the Capped Ram against the weakened outer towers that block access to the rice paddy; leave the final defended position for later. Secure Villagers and resource sites before approaching Hanoi, then cross the river with enough siege and infantry to finish the city. Avoid striking the Ming Castle until the force and economy are ready, since that approach triggers their response.

Risks and adjustments

This force cannot replace losses early, so do not trade units against tower fire or pull several guards at once. The Ming’s delayed production is a timing advantage, not permanent protection: use the quiet window to prepare the route and do not trigger the Castle before securing the countryside.
