Akan Gold Economy

Akan Gold Economy is an Exploration Age technology tied to an Akan settlement in The African Royals. It is available at a Trading Post or Tambo built on an Akan kingdom, and to Hausa at a University with the Akan Alliance. The research combines a Gold Prospector Wagon delivery with gathering improvements for specific Coin sources.

Effect & research conditions

The research takes 30 seconds and costs 325 Food and 325 Wood; African civilizations also pay 585 Influence. Completion sends one Gold Prospector Wagon to the Home City shipment point. Villagers gather 10% faster from Mines, Tribal Marketplaces and Mountain Monasteries, and Abuns gather 10% faster at Mountain Monasteries. These are source-specific bonuses, not a blanket increase to every Coin source.

Research condition

The African Royals; Exploration Age; Trading Post or Tambo on an Akan kingdom, or Hausa University with the Akan Alliance; 30 seconds; 325 Food, 325 Wood and 585 Influence for African civilizations; one Gold Prospector Wagon; +10% Villager gathering at Mines, Tribal Marketplaces and Mountain Monasteries, and +10% Abun gathering at Mountain Monasteries.

When to research

Choose it when the delivered wagon and the named gathering sources fit the economy. The wagon is an immediate reinforcement, while the work-rate bonuses pay off as eligible Villagers and Abuns continue gathering. If most Coin comes from other sources or the shipment point is unsafe, compare the option with another technology or alliance benefit.

The shipment and work-rate effect are separate benefits

The Gold Prospector Wagon is sent to the Home City shipment point when the research completes. The gathering bonuses then apply to Villagers working at Mines, Tribal Marketplaces or Mountain Monasteries, and to Abuns gathering at Mountain Monasteries. A player who cannot use those sites still receives the wagon, but gets less ongoing value from the work-rate portion.

Hausa access uses an alliance prerequisite

Akan-settlement access and Hausa alliance access are different routes to the same technology. Hausa must have the Akan Alliance and research it at a University; a Trading Post or Tambo must be on an Akan kingdom for the settlement route. This distinction helps avoid searching the wrong building for the technology.
