Scenario setting & objectives

The required goals are Destroy the three Spanish camps surrounding Algiers; Destroy all four Spanish Forts; Do not lose the Town Center in Algiers. Optional goals include Destroy the blockade (Reward: Home City access); Liberate the Algerian villages; Recapture the silver mine; Destroy the Spanish Weapon Caches.

Mission approach

Divide the work between holding the Algiers Town Center and clearing Spanish camps, then regroup for the four forts. One player can protect the city while the other opens the blockade or recaptures the mine, but agree on a rally point before the assault. Home City access from the blockade helps only after that objective is completed.

Cooperative objectives and starting setup

Algiers (co-op) is a Definitive Edition Historical Battle added in update 61213, set in 1516. Two players command the Barbary Pirates and Ottomans against Spanish forces; Hizir Reis and Oruc Reis are the named heroes. Both players begin in the Commerce Age, the scenario ends at the Fortress Age and the population limit is 200. The primary objectives are to destroy the three Spanish camps surrounding Algiers, destroy all four Spanish Forts and keep the Town Center in Algiers alive. Optional tasks include breaking the blockade for Home City access, liberating Algerian villages, recapturing the silver mine and destroying Spanish Weapon Caches. The setup gives Player A 1,100 Food, 1,100 Wood and 900 Coin plus crates. Divide duties rather than attacking every target at once: one player can preserve the city and open a route while the other clears a fort approach. The Town Center condition remains a failure risk throughout, so leave defenders near Algiers when the field army moves out. Take the optional blockade or village objectives when they strengthen the next assault without exposing the capital.

Player split and defense priorities

The mission starts both players in the Commerce Age and caps population at 200, with the Fortress Age as the final age. Player A begins with Hizir Reis, Oruc Reis and a force of Berber Archers, Barbary Corsairs and other troops, alongside 1,100 Food, 1,100 Wood and 900 Coin plus crates. The two civilizations can coordinate rather than duplicate the same role: keep enough troops near Algiers to protect its Town Center while the other player opens the route toward the camps and forts. If the blockade is destroyed, the reward is Home City access, which can strengthen later pushes. Liberating villages and recapturing the silver mine are optional objectives that can improve map control, but the capital’s survival is always mandatory. Stage attacks around the required targets and regroup between them instead of sending the whole force into the first Spanish position.
