Matchup & timing
Barbary Warriors are one-population infantry in the Barbary States Revolution, available from a Town Center, European Barracks, Fort or Galleon. Their 16-damage hand attack has 3× damage against Treasure Guardians and 2× against Villagers and Cavalry, making them useful as a low-cost force for clearing a guarded objective or defending against a mounted raid. They can also gather resources from crates, so use them to collect a shipment or map reward when their combat role is not immediately needed. At 200 hit points, 40% hand resistance and 6.0 speed, they are more durable against melee than their price suggests, but their 90-Food cost and 30-second training time still tie them to the Revolution’s economy.
Revolutionary infantry and crate gathering
Barbary Warrior is Heavy Infantry for the Barbary States after the Revolution in Definitive Edition. It costs 90 Food, uses one population and takes 30 seconds to train through the Town Center, European Barracks, Fort or Galleon. The unit has 200 hit points, 40% hand resistance, speed 6.0 and line of sight 12. Its 16-damage hand attack gains a 3× bonus against Treasure guardians, 2× against Villagers and Cavalry, and 1.5× against Shock troops. A 16-damage siege attack at range eight helps it contribute against structures. It can also gather resources from crates, letting it turn map resources into an economic boost while moving with the army. Use its speed and matchup bonuses to support a revolutionary push, but do not confuse its Villager bonus with a primary economic role: it still occupies population and takes time to train. Keep it with support against units that counter Heavy Infantry, and collect crates when the route is safe. The several production sources make it easier to reinforce after the Revolution, but the chosen source must remain accessible.
Crate collection and target selection
The crate-gathering ability adds an economic task to a unit already moving with the revolutionary army. Sweep safe areas for resource crates between engagements, but do not divert the whole force from a critical fight. Its combat multipliers make Treasure guardians, Villagers, Cavalry and Shock troops attractive targets, although the unit’s actual value depends on reach and support. The 6.0 speed and 40% hand resistance help it stay active, yet it remains Heavy Infantry and can be answered by appropriate counters. The siege attack is useful after field opposition is cleared; avoid leaving the unit alone in range of defensive structures. If training from a Galleon or Fort, coordinate the rally with the main force so new Barbary Warriors do not arrive piecemeal.
Production and crate utility
Use the production source nearest to the revolutionary force, but keep it protected. Collect crates when safe and reserve the Warrior’s high matchup multipliers for targets that benefit from them.
Compare the hand attack with its target bonuses
The Barbary Warrior’s 16-point hand attack fires every 1.5 seconds. Before target resistance or upgrades, its listed multipliers produce 48 damage per strike against Treasure Guardians, 32 against Villagers or Cavalry, and 24 against Shock Troops. These figures explain why the unit can defend itself while collecting crates, but they do not make it a universal frontline choice: other Heavy Infantry without a listed bonus receive the baseline attack, and a target’s resistance still reduces the actual health lost. Its separate 16-point siege attack is intended for structures and has range eight. Use the hand attack against the classes it is meant to punish, and bring proper siege support when a building is the objective.
