Fountain of Youth
The Fountain of Youth is a campaign landmark associated with the original Age of Empires III story. It is an objective or scenery object in scripted missions, not a Town Center or economic building for ordinary matches.

- Structure
- 60,000 hit points · 4x4 footprint
Function & construction
The scenario version is a 4-by-4 structure with 60,000 hit points. Its unusual durability reflects its scripted role; it does not provide a standard train or research menu.
Placement & timing
Use the mission objective to determine whether the Fountain must be protected, reached or destroyed. Do not plan a skirmish build around constructing it; it belongs to scenario content and the Scenario Editor.
Campaign objective in Act I: Blood
The Fountain of Youth belongs to the scripted mission The Fountain of Youth? in Act I: Blood. The Circle of Ossus seeks the structure, and the mission’s battle brings Morgan Black’s Knights of St. John together with Elisabet Ramsey’s pirates, Sahin’s Ottoman companies and Seminole forces. Its 60,000 hit points and 4-by-4 footprint are scenario values; it is not a constructible Town Center or a skirmish building with a regular economy menu. The story objective is to destroy it, using the Fixed Gun, military ships and Artillery available in the mission. After the fountain falls, Morgan fills his canteen from the Lake of the Moon, setting up the later story belief that he drank its water. Follow the mission’s instructions and protect the units needed to reach and attack the structure rather than trying to treat its enormous health pool like an ordinary building. In Scenario Editor, it can serve as a landmark or custom objective, but its function still depends on the scenario rules around it.
Scenario construction and later story
Its Scenario Editor entry is available as a landmark for custom missions, but the stock campaign mission provides the narrative context and the forces needed to destroy it. After the event, the Lake of the Moon later dries into a swamp by Act III: Steel, where the Circle searches for lost Spanish treasure ships. The fountain’s unusual durability and fixed footprint belong to the campaign objective and are not balance values for ordinary matches.
A mission landmark with exceptional durability
The Fountain of Youth is a scripted landmark in the original Age of Empires III campaign setting. Its 60,000 hit points reflect its role as a scenario objective or protected feature, not a normal Town Center or a structure players can construct. The object has no standard training or research menu. Its appearance may frame the mission's story, but the exact requirement depends on the scenario: a mission may ask the player to reach, defend, or destroy a landmark. Follow the mission's primary objective rather than assuming that the Fountain behaves like a regular building.
Campaign and edition context
The Fountain belongs to the scripted campaign and Scenario Editor context of Age of Empires III. It should not be confused with a recurring game system or a map bonus in standard Supremacy. Scenario scripts can make an otherwise unusual object central to a mission, and the same landmark can be present without being interactable in another scene. The entry is therefore most useful when identifying the object and understanding its exceptional durability; the associated mission page supplies the actual victory conditions and route.
