Effect & research conditions

Research costs 120 Wood and 120 Coin and takes 10 seconds. Villagers gather 10% faster from hunted animals, Mills, Farms, Food Rice Paddies, Fields and Haciendas. Hacienda automatic Food production also increases by 10%. The effect is limited to those Food sources; it does not improve Coin or Wood gathering.

Research condition

Available from the Exploration Age. Research it at Trading Post or Tambo on a Maya settlement.

When to research

Research while the economy uses more than one of the listed Food sources, or when workers will transition from nearby hunts to Farms and Mills. It costs 120 Wood and 120 Coin and takes 10 seconds, but an early military shipment or production queue may be more urgent. The effect excludes Coin and Wood settings even when a building such as a Field or Hacienda can be assigned those resources.

Food gathering and Hacienda output

Maya Calendar increases Villager Food gathering from hunted animals, Mills, Farms, Food Rice Paddies, Fields and Haciendas by 10%. Hacienda automatic Food gathering also rises by 10%. It does not improve Coin or Wood gathering.

A short, inexpensive settlement upgrade

This Exploration Age technology costs 120 Wood and 120 Coin and takes 10 seconds at a Trading Post or Tambo on a Maya settlement. Because the same bonus carries across several Food sources, it can remain relevant as the economy changes, provided workers continue using those sources.
