Monk

Monk is the hero type used by the Asian civilizations introduced in The Asian Dynasties. Each civilization starts with a distinct hero: the Japanese Sohei Archer, the Chinese Shaolin Master, or the Indian Hindu Brahmin. Like other heroes, Monks explore and collect Treasures.

Asian hero role

All Monks can stun a Treasure guardian briefly, while individual heroes have different passive traits and may gain abilities from Home City shipments or Monastery technologies. Their role parallels the Explorer and War Chief, but the specific abilities and recovery rules differ by hero and version.

Abilities & scouting

Use a Monk to scout and clear Treasure safely, choosing engagements around its stun and civilization-specific tools. Protect it when the opponent can target heroes, and check the linked hero page for exact abilities.

Treasure control differs by Asian hero

Japanese Sohei Archer, Chinese Shaolin Master, and Indian Hindu Brahmin are distinct Monk heroes. All can explore, claim Treasures, and briefly stun Treasure guardians, but their passive traits and shipment or Monastery abilities differ. Treat each hero’s page and version as authoritative for its exact combat and recovery rules; the shared Monk label does not make the three heroes interchangeable.

Three civilizations, three different Monk heroes

The Japanese Sohei Archer, Chinese Shaolin Master and Indian Hindu Brahmin fill the Monk role, but they do not share one identical stat line or ability set. All three can explore, claim Treasures and briefly stun Treasure guardians. Their passive bonuses, Home City shipment options and Monastery technologies differ, so compare the individual hero page before choosing a fight or assigning the Monk to a specialized task.

Treasure scouting and hero protection

Use the stun to interrupt or control a Treasure guardian while the Monk and any escort finish the encounter. The hero's scouting can also reveal nearby routes and resources, but an isolated Monk can be attacked while it is recovering from combat or claiming a reward. Keep the hero near support when the opponent is active, and use its civilization-specific abilities rather than assuming it follows Explorer or War Chief recovery rules.
