The Boneguard's Lair
The Boneguard’s Lair is scenario three of Act III: Steel in the original campaign, set in 1817. Amelia Black’s expedition searches the mines for Beaumont and the information needed to continue its route through South America. The mission is an exploration and pursuit scenario in which the objective chain leads from locating a character to recovering a map.

Scenario setting & objectives
The required goals are to find Beaumont, drive him and his men out of the mines, and find and collect the Seminole map. Weapons Caches provide an additional set of targets. Keep the force together while revealing the route through the mine area; the objective list advances as story triggers are reached.
Mission approach
Explore systematically instead of sending the hero ahead without support. Defeat the force blocking the mines, then search the newly accessible area for the map before moving on. Destroy optional Weapons Caches when the route is safe and the action does not split the group needed for the main objective.
Optional Weapon Caches
Destroying all Weapon Caches is the secondary objective. Because Amelia’s group needs to reach Beaumont and then collect the Seminole map, clear caches only when the route is safe and the force remains together. The mission is the third scenario of Act III: Steel, follows Hold the Fort and leads to The Lost Spanish Gold.
Route through the mine scenario
Amelia follows Beaumont to a gold claim in the Rocky Mountains, where he traps the expedition and the group encounters Ká:nien again. The scenario’s primary objectives progress in order: find Beaumont, drive him and his men from the mines, then find and collect the Seminole map. The secondary objective is to destroy all Weapon Caches. This is scenario three of Act III: Steel, dated 1817, between Hold the Fort and The Lost Spanish Gold. Keep the expedition together as it explores; the objective chain uses story triggers, so the map’s next search area may open after the defenders are removed. Check the mission objective text after each encounter before leaving the mines, because the map is the final required item and optional caches can be cleared after the route is safe.
Starting force and map progression
Amelia begins with Major Cooper, Ká:nien and nine Musketeers. Ká:nien stays outside the mines to seek help from nearby Native villages while Amelia, Cooper and the soldiers search for Beaumont. This split is part of the scenario setup; keep the mine force together and use the outside support as intended. Once Beaumont’s men are driven out, search the opened area for the Seminole map before leaving.
Search the mines before committing to the final objective
This Act III: Steel scenario begins with Beaumont trapping Amelia and leads to the discovery of the Seminole map. The main sequence is to locate Beaumont, drive his men from the mines and find and collect the map. Weapons Caches are optional targets; destroy them while moving through an area that has already been secured rather than splitting the force before the mine fight. Ká:nien’s return adds an older Black-family ally to the story, so preserve the heroes for the objective instead of risking them against every guard. The mission’s order rewards deliberate exploration: clear a route into the mine, secure the objective, then search for the map. A cache is useful only if the detour does not leave the main group short of troops at the next scripted fight. Keep Amelia and Ká:nien together with enough support to survive the transition between objectives.
