Use in play
Keep Scholars working in Mosques and research buildings so the free technology system pays off. Contest Sacred Sites with an army that can hold them rather than relying on the capture alone.
Research and Scholars
Delhi Sultanate technologies generally cost no resources, but take time to research. Scholars can speed research when garrisoned in eligible buildings; this turns access to Scholars and safe research capacity into an important part of technology timing. A technology is not free in tempo simply because its resource cost is zero.
Sacred Sites and army
Religious units can capture Sacred Sites earlier than most civilizations, making map access a distinctive source of pressure and income. War Elephants are durable, expensive frontline units and benefit from support that handles ranged fire and anti-elephant threats. Protect Scholars and elephants; both represent significant strategic value.
