Overview
Cattle, Pit Mines and a distinctive infantry and ranged roster provide an economy unlike the original eight civilizations. Donso and Musofadi units give Malians specialized battlefield answers.
Use in play
Protect exposed Pit Mines and the cattle investment. Scout the enemy mix so the specialized Malian units face the targets they are meant to counter.
Cattle and Pit Mines
Malians can invest in Cattle and use Pastures or cattle-related structures to build a food economy, while Pit Mines generate resources from nearby Gold or Stone. These systems need space and protection; their payoff is reduced if the opponent can repeatedly raid the workers or destroy the investment.
Specialist infantry
Donso, Musofadi Warriors and Javelin Throwers fill different military roles, so the Malian army benefits from scouting and mixing unit types. Musofadi options can challenge armored targets; Donsos help against cavalry. Do not leave either specialist unsupported against its own counter.
