Faster Town Center production and a strong cavalry line encourage early economic and military momentum. Royal Knights are a signature mobile threat, while traders and economic bonuses support the midgame.
Use in play
Scout for exposed economy before committing Royal Knights. Protect them from Spearmen and choose follow-up units that answer the enemy response.
Economic tempo
French Town Centers train Villagers faster, and their economic technologies are discounted. These bonuses support early expansion and help the French maintain production while spending on military pressure. Royal Knights provide mobile melee pressure and can exploit exposed resource lines, but their value depends on choosing engagements and preserving them.
Army and response
The French can transition from cavalry pressure into a broad conventional army. Royal Knights are threatened by Spearmen and can be slowed by defensive positions; add ranged units or siege only when they answer the opponent’s response. Traders and trade-related options become more relevant on maps where a safe route can be maintained.
