Overview
Farms are a reliable food engine and defensive landmarks support a secure base. Longbowmen and Network of Castles give English armies strong positions around their own structures.
Use in play
Use the early farm economy to keep Villager and unit production active. Longbowmen reward protected firing positions, but cavalry can punish them when Spearmen and defensive cover are absent.
Economy and defense
English farms provide a dependable food source and receive bonuses associated with nearby Town Centers or Mills. The Network of Castles/Outposts increases nearby unit attack speed when enemies are spotted, so defensive buildings can support an army as well as protect Villagers. This makes base layout and farm placement relevant to both economy and defense.
Longbowmen and counters
Longbowmen are an English signature ranged unit with useful reach and formations, but they remain vulnerable when caught by cavalry or melee pressure. Spearmen and defensive coverage can make their firing position safer. Use the English defensive network to buy time and choose engagements, not as a substitute for scouting.
