Act I: Japan
Act I: Japan is the five-scenario Japanese campaign in The Asian Dynasties. Set from 1598 to 1600, it follows General Kichiro through conflict surrounding Tokugawa Ieyasu and the divisions among Japan’s Daimyo, ending at Sekigahara.

Setting & story
The missions are The Siege of Osaka, Uprising!, Clearing the Road, Last Stand at Fushimi and The Battle of Sekigahara. The sequence changes from an opening assault and a village uprising to a castle evacuation and the final battle. Each scenario supplies its own goals and optional Experience rewards; the Japanese technology tree alone does not describe the scripted starting force.
Campaign structure
Read the objective order before committing to optional rewards. Early missions reward freeing Villagers and controlling key positions, while Fushimi adds an evacuation deadline and Sekigahara focuses on a named Daimyo. Campaign chronology and mission progression
Act I: Japan is the Japanese campaign in The Asian Dynasties and contains five scenarios set from 1598 to 1600. Its story follows General Kichiro during the struggle around Tokugawa Ieyasu’s rise and the divided Daimyo. The sequence is The Siege of Osaka, Uprising!, Clearing the Road, Last Stand at Fushimi and The Battle of Sekigahara. Together the missions move from a siege and local uprising through an evacuation and into the decisive battle at Sekigahara; their objectives and available forces are scripted for the scenario and should not be confused with a standard Japanese skirmish match. The campaign includes nine cinematics. The mission pages provide the individual victory conditions, optional objectives and scenario-specific units. In general, read the objective panel at the start of each chapter because a task such as freeing Villagers, escorting a force or holding a position can take priority over destroying every enemy building. Optional Experience rewards can be useful, but pursuing them should not jeopardize a timed evacuation or the main objective. The Definitive Edition preserves this campaign as part of the Asian Dynasties content; the listed chapter order provides the intended narrative progression.
Reading scenario objectives
The five missions form a continuous campaign, but each scenario uses its own map setup and win conditions. The opening Siege of Osaka introduces the conflict, while Uprising! shifts attention to events among the population; Clearing the Road and Last Stand at Fushimi put the player through movement and defense tasks before Sekigahara resolves the campaign’s central military conflict. Because the missions are scripted, a force that was effective in one chapter may not carry into the next. Check the objective panel and scenario brief at the start of each mission, then prioritize the named targets and optional goals. The linked mission entries are the place to consult exact objectives and starting conditions.
Follow Kichiro through the five Japan missions
Act I: Japan follows General Kichiro from the unrest after Hideyoshi’s death through the campaign’s later battles. Its five scenarios are The Siege of Osaka, Uprising!, Clearing the Road, Last Stand at Fushimi and The Battle of Sekigahara. Their objectives shift from destroying an enemy Town Center and freeing Villagers to controlling the Tōkaidō Trade Route, evacuating civilians and resolving a major field battle. Do not carry one mission’s plan into the next: Uprising! has a race before Uesugi arrives, while Clearing the Road requires holding Trading Posts for a set period or destroying a base. Fushimi is a timed evacuation, and the final scenario centers on the Battle of Sekigahara. Use each mission page for its own objective order and optional rewards; this act overview provides the narrative progression and keeps the scenario-specific mechanics separate.
