Matchup & timing
Use the hero to reveal the map, defeat manageable Treasure guardians and claim nearby Treasures; avoid trading the hero’s health for a reward guarded by a force it cannot beat. A Trading Post ability turns the hero into an early map-control tool; scout the route first and build where the site can be defended. Place a Native Embassy where its allied roster can reinforce the army, and confirm a suitable settlement or access condition first. Withdraw between fights when damaged so regeneration can restore health instead of risking the hero for marginal damage.
Akan Warchief and Fealty Aura
The Akan Tufohen is a single-limit hero from The African Royals, available after researching Akan Asafo. It has 600 hit points, 30% hand resistance, speed 4 and line of sight 18. The hero heals at range 12, deals 23 ranged damage at range 12 every three seconds, and uses a 13-damage hand attack with area effect. Its hand damage gains 5× against Cavalry and 3.4× against Shock troops, making it a valuable bodyguard for an African army when those units approach. The passive Fealty Aura becomes stronger with allied Native Warriors nearby: each contributes hit points and damage to the hero within the aura’s 32 range. Keep Akan units around the Tufohen when possible, but do not crowd the whole army into artillery fire just to maintain the aura. The hero can claim Treasures, build Trading Posts and Native Embassies, regenerate and use the Chaos ability. This makes it useful for exploration and support as well as combat.
Chaos, collapse and recovery
Chaos affects Treasure guardians within range 18: for five seconds they attack one another, or a lone guardian is stunned; weaker groups may be affected for less time. The ability has a 90-second cooldown, so use it to create a safe opportunity to claim a Treasure or let the army pass rather than activating it on an irrelevant target. The Tufohen’s ranged and hand attacks have small area effects, while its healing supports nearby units between engagements. If defeated, the hero collapses and can respawn at the Home City shipment point after 120 seconds when the player controls an Akan kingdom. Without that condition, a friendly unit must approach once the hero has sufficient health to revive him. Retreating early can preserve the hero and keep the aura active; allowing a collapse may remove the Warchief during an important push. The hero’s power depends on allied Native Warriors, so field him with Akan support and use his Cavalry bonus to protect the group. He is not a replacement for the army: protect the 600-hit-point hero and let regular units absorb sustained fire.
Use the aura without exposing the hero
Akan Tufohen’s Fealty Aura increases his durability and damage for nearby Native Warriors, so keep Akan allies close while maintaining enough spacing to avoid area attacks. The hero requires Akan Asafo and is limited to one. Its 23-damage ranged attack reaches 12, while a hand strike has strong bonuses against Cavalry and Shock troops. Let the army take the first contact, then use the hero to support the counterattack.
Hero access and African army support
The Tufohen becomes available after Akan Asafo is researched and is limited to one. Its support kit combines healing at 12 range, map exploration, Trading Post and Native Embassy construction, and a combat aura driven by nearby Native Warriors. Use the hero to claim a safe Treasure or establish a Native Embassy, then bring it back near the army. It can collapse at zero health rather than being permanently removed; with an Akan kingdom controlled it respawns at the Home City shipment point after 120 seconds. Without that condition, a friendly unit must approach after the hero has recovered enough health. Avoid relying on this as a combat tactic because the absence of the Tufohen removes healing and aura support during the respawn delay. Keep allied Akan warriors within the aura but spread the rest of the force to reduce damage from area attacks.
Use Chaos to claim a guarded reward
Chaos can turn nearby Treasure guardians against one another for five seconds, or stun a lone target. Use the 90-second cooldown on a dangerous guardian group, then claim the Treasure with the hero while the area is safe.
Know when to use the respawn rule
The 120-second Home City respawn requires control of an Akan kingdom. Without that condition, the hero must be revived by a friendly unit after recovering enough health. Keep the Tufohen safe so the army retains its healing, aura and treasure functions instead of relying on a delayed return.
Akan hero and settlement expansion
Akan Tufohen is a hero available from the Exploration Age whose abilities turn early map exploration into both economic access and support. He can claim Treasures, build Trading Posts and Native Embassies, regenerate health and heal at 12 range. Building a Trading Post can secure a route, while a Native Embassy opens access to allied units and technologies when a suitable settlement is nearby. His 600 hit points, 30% hand resistance and four speed are useful for an Explorer, but the 23-damage ranged attack and 13-damage hand attack are not a replacement for an army. Scout the intended site first and bring support when guardians or enemy troops contest the location.
Preserving the hero while creating access
Tufohen’s construction ability is strongest when the player can protect the site long enough to benefit from it. A Trading Post placed on a contested route may be destroyed, and an Embassy is useful only when a settlement and allied roster are available. He can heal allies and claim manageable Treasures while moving between sites, but those jobs compete for his attention. Use his 18 line of sight to inspect the approach, avoid fights with a larger force and let regeneration restore health between engagements. Losing the hero can remove an important early map-control tool, so keep a military escort nearby when building under pressure. Choose between route control and an allied unit access point according to the map’s immediate needs.
