Baltic Sea Trade
Baltic Sea Trade is an Exploration Age House of Oldenburg technology from Definitive Edition — Knights of the Mediterranean. It grants automatic Coin generation to War Ships and defensive buildings, with the calculation based on different parts of each unit’s or structure’s cost.

- War ships and defensive buildings auto gather coin equal to 0.05% of their total cost and 0.1% of their wood cost, respectively
Effect & research conditions
Research it at a Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Oldenburg palace. It costs 250 Food and 250 Wood and takes 30 seconds. War Ships automatically generate Coin equal to 0.05% of their total cost; defensive buildings generate Coin equal to 0.1% of their Wood cost. The effect concerns those two categories and does not describe a bonus for Fishing Boats or ordinary economic buildings.
Research condition
Available from the Exploration Age. Research it at Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Oldenburg palace.
When to research
Research when naval forces or defensive structures will remain in play long enough to benefit. It is most relevant when the army already includes costly War Ships or when a position is supported by defensive buildings; it is a slower return than spending the same Food and Wood on immediate forces. Check the cost basis for each category before estimating the expected Coin.
Different cost bases
The War Ship calculation uses 0.05% of its total cost. For defensive buildings, the stated figure is 0.1% of their Wood cost. These are different bases, so do not apply the ship formula to a defensive structure or assume that every building generates Coin.
An investment tied to existing assets
The technology takes 30 seconds and costs 250 Food and 250 Wood. It does not create a War Ship or a defensive building; those assets must already be part of the strategy for the automatic Coin effect to matter. Consider the duration of naval control or the need to hold a fortified position before delaying unit production to research it.
