Effect & research conditions
The Inca can research it from the Exploration Age at the Native Embassy; Peru can access it after the Revolution. The five-second research unlocks Mapuche Bolas Rider training and upgrades, plus Mapuche Ad-mapu, Mapuche Tactics and Mapuche Treaty of Quillin. It does not itself deliver Bolas Riders or research the three follow-up technologies.
Research condition
Inca: Exploration Age; Peru: after Revolution. Research at the Native Embassy. Disables Carib Allies, Quechua Allies and Zapotec Allies.
When to research
Select Mapuche Allies when its mounted unit and technology options support the intended force. Compare the exclusive branch with Carib, Quechua and Zapotec before researching: those three alternatives become unavailable after this choice. Then spend resources on the individual units or technologies that answer the matchup rather than assuming the unlock alone strengthens the army.
Bolas Riders and the Mapuche research line
Mapuche Allies opens Bolas Rider training and upgrades at the Native Embassy and enables Ad-mapu, Tactics and Treaty of Quillin. These options serve different purposes and require their own resources and timing. The five-second alliance research only opens access; it does not create a Bolas Rider or apply the later technology effects automatically.
The choice closes three alternatives
Once Mapuche Allies is researched, the Native Embassy no longer offers Carib Allies, Quechua Allies or Zapotec Allies. Compare the unit and technology options for all four branches before committing, especially if a different alliance provides a needed counter or economy option. Protect the Embassy after selection so the chosen route remains available for the planned follow-up.
