Effect & research conditions

After research, Native Embassies can train and upgrade Quechua Huamincas and Quechua Bolas Warriors; Docks can train Canoes; and the Quechuan Diet, Quechuan Metalworking and Quechuan Mountaineering technologies become available. In exchange, Carib Allies and Mapuche Allies are disabled. The unlock therefore changes army, naval and research options together, with the loss of the other two alliance branches as a permanent strategic tradeoff for that match.

Research condition

Peru Revolution; Native Embassy; requires the American Allies Home City Card

When to research

Choose Quechua Allies when the Quechua units, Canoes or their three technologies fit the army and map better than the Carib or Mapuche branches. Since the research takes only five seconds, the key decision is the card and alliance commitment rather than the short timer. Review the new roster and available research before selecting the route, especially if the army still depends on one of the disabled allies.

The unlock also closes two other branches

Quechua Allies does more than add units. It disables Carib Allies and Mapuche Allies, so a player cannot treat all three branches as simultaneously available after the choice. Compare their unit and technology options before researching. This makes the decision a roster commitment even though the technology itself takes only five seconds.

Three ways to use the Quechua route

The new access spans land units, naval production and research: Quechua Huamincas and Quechua Bolas Warriors at Native Embassies, Canoes at Docks, plus Quechuan Diet, Quechuan Metalworking and Quechuan Mountaineering. The mix is most useful when the map or intended army can use more than one of these options. The American Allies card is required, so include that Home City choice in the revolution plan.
