Map character

Locate the Regent’s Castle and the approaches to your Regent before moving the army away from the base. The Regent resembles a Daimyo but has only a 10-damage hand attack, so assign ordinary troops to screen it. Scout routes that could reach the Castle and keep defenders near the objective.

What to scout

Prioritize Regent survival over chasing an army or claiming a distant Treasure; losing the objective can decide the match even if the field army remains intact. Use the Castle and nearby units as a protected anchor, then scout outward with a screen. Do not treat the Regent as a combat hero or send it to the frontline.

The Regent objective and map-specific combat

Honshu - Regicide is a special Age III map built around protecting the Regent. The Regent is a Daimyo-like hero model but is not a frontline fighter: the map notes a hand attack of only 10 damage, so its presence should not be mistaken for a reliable combat unit. The Regent’s Castle and the starting Regent create a clear defensive anchor. Keep the Regent behind the army, use ordinary units to screen approaches, and avoid exposing it while scouting or chasing a retreat. Since the scenario is decided by the Regent objective, a player can lose through a lapse in protection even while retaining a large field army; scouting routes into the base and responding to fast raiders matter as much as winning the central engagement. Japanese-themed map assets do not change the selected civilization’s normal roster or economy. When planning a force, use the active civilization’s own unit counters and production rules, and treat the castle and Regent as the scenario’s special objective rather than generic map decoration.
