Seminole Bowyer

Seminole Bowyer is an Exploration Age technology researched at a Trading Post or Tambo on a Seminole settlement. It increases damage for Archer-class units by 15% in Definitive Edition and takes ten seconds to research. Its bonus applies to an existing and future archer force; it does not improve every ranged unit or act as a universal military upgrade.

Effect & research conditions

The Definitive Edition cost is 250 Wood and 250 Coin. Confirm that the army’s units carry the Archer classification, then research before the engagement where the damage increase will matter. The technology is tied to a Seminole settlement and its Trading Post or Tambo, so the site must be accessible and the building kept available. Earlier releases used a different value and cost.

When to research

Choose it when archers form a meaningful part of the army and the Seminole site is safe enough to support the investment. It is less attractive if the force relies on units outside the Archer class or if Wood and Coin are needed immediately for production. The ten-second research is brief, but timing it before contact lets the enhanced units benefit from the start of the fight.

Definitive Edition changed both the bonus and the price

Before Definitive Edition, Seminole Bowyer provided +25% Archer damage for 300 Wood and 300 Coin. In Definitive Edition the bonus is +15% and the cost is 250 Wood and 250 Coin; the ten-second research time is unchanged in the current record. Older strategy notes that quote the larger damage increase also use the higher price, so check the game version before estimating whether the upgrade changes a matchup.

Research only when the affected class is doing the work

The bonus follows the Archer classification, not the general idea of a unit that attacks from range. Review the units in the current army before spending: an upgrade for Archers will not strengthen unrelated ranged infantry or artillery. Once researched, the damage increase supports the relevant force through later fights, so it is most useful when the player expects to keep those units in production and can protect them from their counters.
