Stronghold
Stronghold is a military building whose profile depends on game mode. The standard Definitive Edition Inca Stronghold costs 350 Wood and 350 Coin; a separate Haudenosaunee and Lakota version exists only in the Independence mode added by The Baltic Powers.

Function & construction
The Inca profile is available in the Fortress Age, costs 350 Wood and 350 Coin, takes 60 seconds to build, has a limit of one and has 6,000 hit points. The Independence profile is also Fortress Age but is restricted to that mode: it costs 500 Wood and 200 Coin, has a limit of three and has 5,000 hit points. Do not combine their builders, footprint or attack values.

Placement & timing
Choose a Stronghold when a Fortress Age forward base needs both military production and shelter for a large group of eligible units. Its attack scales with the garrison, so filling it improves defensive fire but temporarily removes those units from the field; garrison only when protection outweighs the value of fighting outside. Recorded cost profiles differ by civilization and access route, while the 60-second build time calls for an escorted site that can support the army after construction; check the active profile before committing resources. Haudenosaunee, Lakota and listed Inca routes do not share identical access rules, and some uses have additional mode requirements, so confirm the active civilization and scenario first. Keep mobile troops available to counter siege and threats beyond the structure’s coverage, and use shipment delivery only when the selected card allows the Stronghold as a destination.
Haudenosaunee and Lakota defensive production
Stronghold is a Fortress Age building used by the Haudenosaunee and Lakota, with additional access through specific Inca rules and units. It costs 350 Wood and 350 Coin, takes 60 seconds to build and has a 6,000-hit-point profile with 29 line of sight. The structure attacks nearby enemies, trains most military units and can receive eligible Home City shipments. Up to 50 listed land economy, military and support units can garrison. Its ranged attack scales with the number of garrisoned units, so filling the building can strengthen its defensive fire, but those units are temporarily unavailable elsewhere. The anti-siege weapon reaches range 40, while the ordinary ranged attack has penalties against artillery, siege units, Villagers and heroes. Place it to protect a concentrated settlement or important route, and keep mobile units nearby to handle threats outside its firing role. Strongholds can also support an offensive by providing forward production, but their high resource cost and long build time make an exposed position risky. Verify the civilization-specific builder and cost because the structure’s exact access differs by roster and release.
Garrison and shipment planning
A Stronghold’s garrison can include up to 50 eligible units, while its attack gains damage according to the number of units inside. Garrisoning therefore trades immediate field presence for a stronger defensive position. Use this when workers or the production area are threatened, then ungarrison units when they are needed to meet an enemy outside the building’s attack range. The Stronghold can receive Home City shipments when the card permits delivery there, which can make a forward position a reinforcement point. Check the card’s destination rule before relying on the building as a shipment target. Its limit and resource cost encourage deliberate placement: a single well-supported Stronghold can protect a key area, but an isolated one is vulnerable to siege.
Haudenosaunee and Lakota fortified production
The Stronghold is a Fortress Age building used by Haudenosaunee and Lakota, and it can attack nearby enemies, train most military units and receive Home City shipments where the rules allow. Its 6,000 hit points, 29 line of sight and 6-by-6 footprint make it a major base commitment. Native Villagers, the Inca War Chief or a Stronghold Travois can provide construction routes in the listed contexts. Its ranged attack improves with garrisoned units, so the building’s defensive output depends partly on what is inside. Place it to protect a valuable approach and keep the training function close to the army it will reinforce.
Cost, shipment rules and protection
The recorded build profile lists 350 Wood and 350 Coin, 60 seconds of construction and a limit of one; some related fact records show other mode- or rule-specific costs, so check the active game profile. Land military units can load into the Stronghold under its listed rules, and Independence mode is a prerequisite for some uses. It can receive Home City shipments only when the relevant card and mode allow it. A large structure can anchor a defensive line, but siege units can still threaten it. Keep mobile troops available to intercept attackers, and use the Stronghold’s training and shipment access as part of a broader production plan rather than assuming it replaces every other building.
