Role, availability & values

It has 500 hit points and 10% ranged resistance. It moves at 4.5 speed. Training costs 200 Coin; it takes 20 seconds to train. Attack profile: Ranged attack: 12 damage at range 16; every 3.0 seconds. Siege attack: 15 damage at range 6; every 3.0 seconds. Hand attack: 6 damage; every 1.5 seconds. Sharpshooter attack: 750 damage at range 16; every 3.0 seconds. Crack shot attack: 60 damage at range 16; every 3.0 seconds; area of effect 2. Special ability or role: Claims treasures; Builds Town Centers and Trading Posts; Trains Native Scouts. If reduced to zero hit points, it collapses rather than dying; after regenerating 100 hit points, a friendly unit or building nearby can revive it.

Matchup & timing

Use the hero to reveal the map, defeat manageable Treasure guardians and claim nearby Treasures; avoid trading the hero’s health for a reward guarded by a force it cannot beat. A Trading Post ability turns the hero into an early map-control tool; scout the route first and build where the site can be defended. Use the Town Center ability to establish expansion only after scouting a safe location and enough nearby resources. Use its training ability when Native Scouts are needed; keep the hero safe while units are being produced. If it collapses, keep a friendly unit or building nearby and protect the recovery period until it reaches 100 hit points.

Hero statistics, aura and recovery

The Haudenosaunee War Chief is the faction’s starting hero in standard random-map games. It costs 200 Coin to train or revive, takes 20 seconds and has a limit of one. Its base profile is 500 hit points, 10% ranged resistance, speed 4.5 and line of sight 18. The ranged attack deals 12 damage at range 16 every three seconds, with a three-times bonus against Treasure Guardians and only 0.25 damage against Villagers. Its hand attack deals six damage every 1.5 seconds, and siege damage is 15 at range six every three seconds. The War Chief sees Stealth, claims treasure, builds Town Centers and Trading Posts, and trains Native Scouts. The War Chief’s aura increases nearby friendly units’ hit points by 10% within radius 24 in Definitive Edition. High Chief also extends a 10% hit point bonus to buildings. Keep the hero close to the army so the effect covers the units taking fire, but do not lead it into concentrated attacks. The extra health improves a formation’s staying power without changing its attack, so the rest of the army still needs appropriate counters. The aura’s effect on nearby units makes positioning the hero important during both defense and a push. The War Chief can convert human Treasure Guardians with Recruit Guardian, use Eagle Eye for an area attack and Sharpshooter Attack against guardians. These abilities share cooldown restrictions; plan which ability is needed before a treasure fight. Eagle Eye deals 60 ranged damage at range 16 in an area of two, with reduced damage against MercType2 mercenaries. Recruit Guardian takes four seconds and has a 90-second cooldown, while its cooldown shares with the other special attacks. The Sharpshooter attack deals 750 damage to guardians and has a shared 60-second cooldown. These abilities help clear treasure sites but do not make the hero invulnerable. When the War Chief reaches zero hit points, he collapses and regenerates rather than dying permanently. A friendly unit or building nearby can revive him once he has recovered at least 100 hit points. The War Chief Ceremony at the Community Plaza can also return him and increase his hit points. Move the army over the collapsed hero and protect the recovery period; leaving him in enemy territory can allow the opponent to camp the location. The 200-Coin revival price and 20-second time are relevant if the hero is lost or needs to be retrained. Use the hero to explore, reveal hidden units, collect Treasure and place the first Trading Post. His attack is primarily ranged and should be kept at distance, while the aura supports nearby troops. Do not rely on his weak Villager damage or send him alone against Heavy Infantry. He is a support hero, explorer and battlefield anchor whose greatest value comes from the aura and the civilization systems he unlocks.

Explore, support the army and secure Treasure

The War Chief’s 18 line of sight and Stealth detection make it a strong scout. Move it along the edge of the map to identify enemy production and reveal hidden units while the army follows a safer route. Its 12 ranged damage at range 16 can contribute against Treasure Guardians and ordinary troops, but the attack interval is three seconds, so it should not be the only source of damage. The three-times Treasure Guardian bonus makes it useful for clearing guarded rewards; the 0.25 Villager multiplier means it is inefficient at raiding workers. When fighting near a Treasure, decide whether to recruit a human guardian or use Eagle Eye before activating an ability, because the special attacks share cooldowns. Recruit Guardian takes four seconds, leaving the hero and nearby army exposed during the channel. Clear surrounding enemies first and use a screen to protect the War Chief. Eagle Eye’s area damage can hit several units in a cluster, while Sharpshooter Attack is specifically aimed at guardians. These tools help secure treasure without requiring a large force, but should be saved for meaningful encounters rather than used on the first target.

Keep the aura over the active formation

Radius 24 gives the War Chief room to remain behind the frontline while still improving nearby troops. Move the hero with the army as it changes direction and avoid leaving ranged units outside the aura. High Chief also improves building hit points, helping defend a Town Center or Longhouse near the battle.

Use the hero to anchor a push

As the army advances, keep the War Chief behind the Tomahawks or Mantlets so its aura remains active without drawing focused fire. The hero’s ranged attack is slow, so use it to support the formation rather than chase fleeing units.

Hero, exploration and revival

The Haudenosaunee War Chief costs 200 Coin, trains in 20 seconds and is limited to one. He has 500 hit points, 10% ranged resistance, speed 4.5 and sight 18. Beyond combat, he claims Treasures, builds Town Centers and Trading Posts, and trains Native Scouts. His ranged attack deals 12 damage at range 16 every three seconds and has a strong bonus against Treasure Guardians but very low damage against Villagers. A 15-damage Siege attack and the same target profile on his hand attack give him several functions, but the hero’s real value comes from supporting exploration and opening sites for the civilization. Keep him near the army when forward building or gathering Treasures; using him as an ordinary frontline soldier risks losing access to those abilities.

Special attacks and the collapsed state

The War Chief has a 750-damage Sharpshooter attack that targets Guardians and a 60-damage Crack Shot with area damage and a long cooldown. These abilities reward choosing a valuable target and timing the shot rather than activating it against an ordinary unit. If his hit points reach zero, he collapses instead of dying. A friendly unit or building can revive him after he regenerates at least 100 hit points, and the War Chief Ceremony at the Community Plaza offers another recovery route. Secure the area around a fallen War Chief: an enemy can deny the recovery by controlling the location, while a protected retreat lets the hero return to scouting and support. His ranged damage to Villagers is low, so use Crack Shot and the army’s other units for combat pressure while preserving the hero’s economy and exploration role.
