Role & counters

As Heavy cavalry, Winged Hussars are strong against vulnerable ranged infantry and Villagers but face anti-cavalry bonuses from units such as Pikemen and Musketeers. Their speed helps choose engagements, while their resource and population cost makes a failed charge difficult to replace.

When to field it

Use Winged Hussars to flank, pressure exposed workers or exploit a gap after the enemy line commits. Scout for anti-cavalry troops and withdraw before they can surround the cavalry.

Fast Polish cavalry for flanks and pressure

The Polish Winged Hussar is a Commerce Age Stable unit in Definitive Edition — The Baltic Powers. It costs 130 Food and 150 Coin, has 360 hit points and moves at 6.75 speed. Its 30-damage hand attack and Lance Charge both have a 1.5× bonus against Infantry, giving it a strong role against exposed foot units and Villagers. It is not a dedicated anti-cavalry answer: the charge deals reduced damage to Artillery and Pikeman-class targets, and the Hussar’s price makes a failed engagement costly. Use its speed to approach from a flank, force the opponent to turn, then retreat if anti-cavalry troops arrive. Keep it with the Polish force rather than sending it alone into a prepared line.
