When to research
Use the short 10-second research when a cavalry or shock-troop queue is about to carry the army’s timing. Its 40% reduction is strongest for those categories, while the listed secondary armies receive 20%; Tokala Soldiers are explicitly excluded from the main cavalry bonus. Save the 250 Wood and 250 Coin if the force will not use the affected roster.
Training-time reductions by unit and banner army
Cheyenne Horse Trading is an Exploration Age technology researched at a Trading Post or Tambo on a Cheyenne settlement. It costs 250 Wood and 250 Coin and takes 10 seconds. In the current Definitive Edition rules it reduces training time by 40% for Cavalry other than Tokala Soldiers, for Shock troops, and for the Forbidden Army and Mongolian Army. The Standard, Black Flag, Ming and Imperial Armies receive a smaller 20% reduction. A 40-second eligible unit therefore trains in 24 seconds before other modifiers; the 20% banner reduction changes that same baseline to 32 seconds. This can sharply improve reinforcement speed in Treaty or Deathmatch games, especially when the army relies on Cavalry, but it does not reduce unit cost. Check the exact roster and banner category before calculating the benefit, since not every army shipment receives the same reduction.
