Role, availability & values

Use the Qamutik’s movement and long attack range to pressure targets while keeping distance from melee threats. Its siege attack provides a secondary way to damage structures, but the unit should remain guarded when it approaches a defensive position. Ranged resistance helps against some incoming fire; it does not protect against dedicated counters or a surrounded formation.

Matchup & timing

Choose it when the Inuit alliance or Native Embassy is available and the Fortress Age army needs durable ranged cavalry. Its range and health can support a sustained formation, but its Wood cost competes with buildings and other units. Scout the enemy’s anti-cavalry composition before producing a large number.

Use the ranged multipliers for specific threats

The ranged attack’s strongest listed matchups are Heavy Cavalry at 2.5× and Hand Shock Troops or Artillery at 2×. Its 15 base damage and 14 range let it engage before many melee units can connect, while the 30% ranged resistance helps it trade against some ranged fire. Keep the formation moving and screened: the Villager multiplier is only 0.5×, and its siege attack is a separate, slower tool for structures.

Qimmiit changes what a lost Qamutik leaves behind

Inuit Qimmiit is a Commerce Age technology researched at a Trading Post or Tambo on an Inuit settlement for 200 Wood and 100 Coin over 30 seconds. Afterward, a fallen Qamutik spawns one Inuit Hunter and one Husky, and the technology also unlocks Husky training at Inuit Trading Posts, Tambos and Native Embassies. Spawned units respect the training limit, so maintain capacity if the replacement effect is part of the plan.

Upgrade and population planning

The Inuit Warrior Societies upgrade grants Elite status with +25% hit points and damage for 150 Wood and 100 Coin. Champion Inuit costs 500 Wood and 400 Coin, adds +35% and requires the first upgrade; Legendary Native Warriors or Exalted Natives adds a further 50% where available. The Qamutik uses one population and the settlement limit is eight, so include both caps when planning a large group. Its 110 Wood cost also competes with buildings and other production.
