Role, availability & values

Production is available through Town Center (if The Logistician is chosen), European Barracks, Fort, Caravel, Frigate, Battleship (with the "Naval Infantry" Home City Card), or Galleon. It has 20% ranged resistance. It moves at 4.0 speed and uses 1 population. Training costs 35 Food and 35 Wood; it takes 21 seconds to train. Other profile values: 160 (100 base) hit points. Attack profile: Hand attack deals 11.2 (7 base) damage. Ranged attack deals 25.6 (16 base) damage. Siege attack deals 12.8 (8 base) damage. Hand attack bonuses: 1.75× against Heavy infantry, 1.75× against Light ranged cavalry, 1.75× against Ranged shock trooper, 0.5× against Cavalry, and 0.5× against Shock troops. Ranged attack bonuses: 2.0× against Light ranged cavalry, 2.0× against Ranged shock trooper, 2.0× against Heavy infantry, 0.6× against Cavalry, and 0.6× against Shock troops.

Matchup & timing

Hand attack is especially effective against Heavy infantry (1.75×), Light ranged cavalry (1.75×), Ranged shock trooper (1.75×). Ranged attack is especially effective against Light ranged cavalry (2×), Ranged shock trooper (2×), Heavy infantry (2×). Its reduced multipliers against Cavalry (0.5×), Shock troops (0.5×), Cavalry (0.6×), Shock troops (0.6×) make it less suitable for those targets. Use ranged fire to focus Light ranged cavalry, Ranged shock trooper, and Heavy infantry before they can close; hold the melee attack for Heavy infantry, Light ranged cavalry, and Ranged shock trooper when they enter contact. Keep a frontline between this unit and threats that can reach it safely.

Portuguese counter infantry and access

Ordinance Riflemen are a Portuguese Industrial Age ranged unit. The current profile costs 35 Food and 35 Wood, occupies one population and trains in 21 seconds with The Logistician or 30 seconds at base. It has 160 hit points with the listed improvement (100 base), 20% ranged resistance and 4.0 speed. The 25.6-damage ranged attack fires every three seconds at range 2–16 and has 2× bonuses against Light ranged cavalry, ranged shock troops and Heavy infantry; it deals reduced damage to Cavalry and Shock troops. It is also available from a European Barracks or Fort, and Naval Infantry enables recruitment from eligible ships. Recent updates changed the cost to 35/35 and reverted unintended speed and train-time improvements. Use the Rifleman to counter its listed infantry classes, but protect it from cavalry closing into melee. Keep the base values separate from The Logistician’s improved health and training values when comparing versions.

Portuguese skirmisher deployment

Ordinance Riflemen can arrive through Home City access, Portuguese production buildings, a Fort or Naval Infantry-enabled ships. They are an Industrial Age counter unit with 2× ranged bonuses against Heavy infantry, Light ranged cavalry and ranged shock troops; reduced multipliers against Cavalry and Shock troops make a screen important. The Logistician improves the unit’s health and train time relative to base, so do not treat the 160-hit-point, 21-second values as universal. Recent patches set the standard price at 35 Food and 35 Wood and restored the base speed and train time. Use the rifle line at range, and let melee units intercept cavalry before it closes.

Update changes and training profile

Patch 15.30007 changed the cost from 30 Food and 30 Wood to 35 of each resource. Update 15.59076 reverted unintended improvements to speed and training time. The current profile therefore lists 35/35 cost and 30 seconds at base, with 21 seconds only when The Logistician modifies production. Its strong bonus against Heavy infantry and light ranged targets supports a ranged line, but it remains vulnerable to cavalry and shock troops.

Ordenança promotion and the updated baseline

The Ordinance Rifleman is a Portuguese Industrial Age Light Infantry unit tied to the Ordenança path. Its updated profile lists 160 hit points, 25.6 ranged damage, 20% ranged resistance, one population and a 21-second training time; the parenthetical base values are 100 hit points, 16 ranged damage and 30 seconds. Its ranged attack has a 2× multiplier against Heavy Infantry, Light ranged Cavalry and Ranged Shock Troops, but reduced damage against Cavalry and Shock Troops. It costs 35 Food and 35 Wood, letting Portugal add a low-Coin counter unit while maintaining other Coin-heavy production. Production can come from the European Barracks, Fort or a Town Center when The Logistician is selected, and Naval Infantry can add access through eligible ships. These accelerated values reflect the listed Definitive Edition update; older references to the base profile should not be mixed with the current promoted unit.
