Overview
A separate antiquity-era campaign following Alexander’s conquests.
Scenario details
A separate antiquity-era campaign following Alexander’s conquests. Mission order and scenario notes: 1. A Lesson in Warfare — Alexander begins with almost no troops and must earn his place in Philip’s army. Build the southern settlement, complete the tasks set by Parmenion and Cleitus, and use the terrain and horse pens to disrupt the Scythians before joining Philip for the final battle against Atheas 2. Let the Prince Decide — Alexander escorts his injured father and the royal column through Triballi territory. Select a route and temporary camp site, gather resources as the column moves, and defend the Royal Tent and Plunder Carts whenever the army stops. The journey ends once the Triballi stronghold is removed 3. The Battle of Chaeronea — Philip and Alexander face the allied Greek armies at Chaeronea. Protect the Macedonian economy and the strategic resource position, break the Theban flank first, then turn against the remaining Greek force while keeping your allies in the battle 4. Right to Rule — After Philip’s death, Alexander must prove that the new king can protect Macedon. Legitimacy controls access to major technologies and Ages, but falls when allied towns lose key buildings or commanders. Defend the border settlements, defeat the northern tribes, and respond to political crises before they weaken your claim 5. Get Rich Quick — The Thracians need a large treasury before the next Macedonian campaign. Gather what you can from mines, then raid Autariatan settlements for gold by destroying key structures and defeating their leaders. Forts at the marked sites help protect the northern approach 6. Woe unto Thebes — The assault on Thebes plays out in three stages. First, defend the Cadmeia against repeated attacks. Then send a small force into the city to sabotage its defenses before Alexander’s army takes over. Finally, reunite with the garrison and capture four landmarks to secure the city 7. The Battle of the Granicus — Before the armies clash at the Granicus, place each captain where their troops can counter the Persian formation. During the battle, Alexander and his Companion Cavalry operate behind enemy lines to complete objectives that undermine Persian morale. Preserve the Macedonian captains and keep the main army from losing heart 8. Unto the Breach — Alexander cannot build ordinary siege weapons for the assault on Halicarnassus. Instead, Queen Ada provides Siege Engineer Tents with several ways to neutralize the city’s Forts. Protect each sapper, ram, emplacement, or assault party while fending off counterattacks; destroying four Forts forces the defenders to surrender 9. The Cilician Gates — Alexander waits in Cilicia while recovering from illness, but the region’s resources and sea lanes are under pressure. Build an economy across land and water, defend against raiders and pirates, then confront Darius when he arrives. Local allies and control of the coast can make the final battle easier 10. Tyre Must Fall — Tyre’s island defenses make a direct assault impossible, so Alexander orders a causeway built across the sea. Secure the mainland staging area, protect the engineers from naval attacks and landings, and push forward until the Royal Palace can be reached 11. The Battle of Gaugamela — The Macedonians have one night to prepare for the largest Persian assault yet. Expand military production, choose a lasting Companion Cavalry upgrade, and keep the command tents secure through repeated attacks. When the opportunity comes, push into Darius’ camp to end the battle 12. The City at the End of the World — Alexander founds a new city that grows through district planning rather than villager construction. Each district adds Houses, income, defenses, troops, or production buildings. Expand Alexandria while protecting the Town Center, then choose a Garden or Theater Wonder district to complete the settlement 13. In the Land of the Five Rivers — Porus resists Ambhi’s powerful kingdom while Taxilan raiders threaten nearby villages and the river routes. Strengthen the Puru economy, use the river for food and gold, and complete local tasks to gain allies and weaken Ambhi before attacking his fortress 14. The Battle of the Hydaspes — Alexander’s army must cross the Hydaspes under pressure from Porus’ defenders. Establish multiple beachheads to divide the Indian counterattack, then hold at least two landing zones until Porus commits his elite force. Transport ships and the fortified landing Towers are essential to keeping the far bank supplied 15. No Escape — After the initial battle, Sangala’s people attempt to flee the city in waves. Capture the outposts, build defenses near likely escape routes, and intercept the fleeing groups without letting the escape count reach 200. When Porus arrives, use the combined army to break the city and destroy its Town Centers 16. Katabasis — Alexander’s army moves south along the rivers, subduing the Mallian and Oxydracian cities. Capture settlements to open new river launch points for Nearchos’ Flagship, then use the mobile base to extend the campaign behind enemy lines and strike Multan 17. A Voyage of Discovery — Nearchos leads a long naval expedition from the Indus to Susa. Each landing requires the crew to find provisions before continuing, while coastal tribes, pirates, and Persian forces block the route. Explore the stops for treasures and discoveries, then clear the final river blockade and reunite with Alexander 18. Wrath — Grief drives Alexander into the Zagros Mountains, where the Cossaean tribes launch attacks from several directions. Secure an early base, defeat enough tribes and enemy troops to begin the final phase, then fortify the Wonder site against repeated assaults until the defenders withdraw Use the named objectives, starting setup, and mission order in this entry to distinguish it from the standard skirmish rules.
