Settlement & allied options

Chakram Throwers are ranged light infantry with 50% ranged resistance and area damage, useful against groups and heavy infantry but needing a frontline. Definitive Edition Army of the Pure (125 Wood, 125 Coin) adds +2 line of sight and range to ranged and siege attacks; Asian Dynasties had different costs and a larger range increase. Sikh Gurus (130 Wood, 130 Coin) gives heroes +50% hit points. Punjabi New Year (200 Food, 200 Coin) adds +10% gathering at Farms, Estates, Mills, Rice Paddies, Fields and Haciendas, plus livestock gathering and Hacienda auto-gather bonuses.

Units, technologies & maps

Research Punjabi New Year after investing in agriculture. Army of the Pure extends Chakram reach but does not remove their weakness to melee pressure. Sikh Gurus helps an Explorer survive treasure fights. The site is strongest when its economic bonus and a field group of Chakram Throwers can both be used.

When to ally

The Chakram Thrower’s 50% ranged resistance lets it take more projectile pressure than many ranged infantry, while its bonuses still favor Heavy infantry and its attacks are weaker against Heavy cavalry and Hand shock troops. Army of the Pure adds reach rather than damage, so it helps the unit begin firing or sieging from farther away but does not change which targets it counters. Keep the settlement option protected while those units and technologies are in use.

Chakram Thrower is a ranged, area-pressure unit

The Commerce Age Chakram Thrower costs 100 Food and 50 Wood and trains in 40 seconds. It has 165 hit points, 50% ranged resistance and 4.5 speed. Its 18-damage ranged attack reaches range 14, with a 1.5× bonus against Heavy infantry and reduced damage against Heavy cavalry and Hand shock troops. It also deals 20 siege damage at range 10. The unit is durable against ranged fire, but use its attack profile to target heavy infantry and pressure buildings rather than expecting strong damage against every cavalry class.

Range, hero health and broad economy bonuses

Army of the Pure adds two to Chakram Thrower line of sight, ranged attack range and siege range for 125 Wood and 125 Coin. Sikh Gurus raises Hero hit points by 50% for 130 Wood and 130 Coin. Punjabi New Year costs 200 Food and 200 Coin and improves several systems by 10%: Villager gathering at Mills, Farms, Rice Paddies, Estates, Fields and Haciendas; herdable-animal gathering at Livestock Pens, Farms, Villages and Livestock Markets; Experience at Sacred Fields and Shrines; and Hacienda automatic Food and Coin. The options support unit reach, hero survival or a broad existing economy.

Settlement route and map access

A Trading Post or Inca Tambo on an Udasi Temple holy site unlocks the alliance; the Native Embassy can also train Chakram Throwers. Udasi sites are listed on Deccan, Himalayas, Himalayas - Upper, Punjab and Silk Road. Secure the site before relying on the range upgrade or the broad economic bonus, and choose the technology that matches the units or buildings currently in use.
