Jagiellonian Legacy
Jagiellonian Legacy is a Fortress Age technology for the House of Jagiellon palace. Researching it repeats the units and resources granted by the player’s completed age-up researches, so its payoff depends on which politicians or Federal State rewards were chosen.

Effect & research conditions
Research it at a Trading Post or Tambo on the House of Jagiellon palace. It costs 200 Food, 200 Wood and 200 Coin. Research takes 60 seconds in the Fortress Age, 90 seconds in the Industrial Age and 120 seconds in the Imperial Age. It repeats eligible age-up units and resource deliveries; it does not simply replay every age-up bonus or unlock.
Research condition
Fortress Age or later; Trading Post or Tambo on a House of Jagiellon palace; 200 Food, 200 Wood and 200 Coin. Research time rises from 60 to 90 to 120 seconds by age.
When to research
Compare the repeatable reward with the 600-resource cost and the time before it can arrive. A second artillery or cavalry group can support a planned push, while crates need Villagers to gather them. Leave population room, protect the palace site and check that the chosen reward is eligible before researching.
How the technology works
Jagiellonian Legacy is a Fortress Age technology associated with the House of Jagiellon palace. It is researched at a Trading Post or Tambo built on that palace and repeats units and resources previously granted by age-up research. The base research takes 60 seconds and costs 200 Food, 200 Wood and 200 Coin. If started in the Industrial Age it takes 90 seconds; in the Imperial Age it takes 120 seconds. Its value depends on what the player has already received: a military age-up can produce another group, while a resource reward can add crates or workers. It does not repeat every bonus connected to advancing in age; the effect is tied to the age-up research’s units and resources.
Prerequisites and map access
The technology requires a House of Jagiellon palace to be established through the relevant Trading Post or Tambo, so it is not a standard technology available to every civilization. The player must also reach the age and gather all three resources before committing to the research time. A contested Trading Post can be lost or interrupted, making site control part of the investment. Secure the settlement, protect the research building and decide which age-up rewards are worth repeating before spending the resources. If the opponent can force a fight during the research window, delaying the technology for a military shipment or army upgrade may be safer.
Age-up rewards it can repeat
The possible repeat depends on the politician or age-up choice and the civilization. Exploration Age examples include The Governor’s Outpost Wagon and Coin, The Naturalist’s Settlers and Cows with extra Food, The Philosopher Prince’s Food crates and The Quartermaster’s Wood. Fortress Age examples include units from The Adventurer, The Marksman, The Sergeant at Arms, The Gentleman Pirate and The Mohawk Statesman, as well as ships from The Admiral of the Ocean Sea or a Covered Wagon from The Bishop. Industrial Age choices can add cavalry, infantry, artillery, a Fort Wagon, Papal Guards for Italians or resource crates from The Tycoon. The repeated reward follows the actual age-up choice rather than a universal fixed shipment.
Plan around the second delivery
The strongest use is often to repeat a reward that helps the next timing: another artillery group before a push, extra cavalry to raid, or resources to complete an upgrade and keep production running. The player should factor in the delay: the Industrial and Imperial research times are longer, and units arrive only after the technology resolves. A unit reward can be wasted if the player has no population room or if the army composition is already countered. Resource crates need gatherers, and a Fort Wagon needs a safe construction site. Queue the intended follow-up before research completes and keep the Trading Post area defended so the reward can be used immediately.
Rewards it cannot duplicate
Some age-up effects are not units or resources and therefore do not benefit. A politician that unlocks cheaper upgrades or research discounts, such as The Papal Guard, does not provide a repeatable troop or crate reward through this technology. Unique heroes also have exceptions: it will not create a second Daimyo Masamune while the first is alive or retrainable, and a lost Leonardo’s Tank is not simply restored; the standard replacement can be an Advanced Hot Air Balloon through The Inventor’s reward. Check the exact age-up entry before choosing the politician for a planned repeat. An age-up selected only for a non-repeatable discount may leave the technology with little immediate value.
Best timing and opportunity cost
Researching earlier can allow the effect to apply to more future age-ups, while waiting until later provides a larger pool of possible rewards but costs longer and more resources. The correct timing depends on the remaining ages and the value of the prior rewards. If the player expects to receive multiple unit groups from later age-ups, an early research may multiply their return; if the available reward is weak, save the 600 resources for an army or economic upgrade. Jagiellonian Legacy is an optional strategic investment, not a mandatory technology. It is most useful when the player has a high-value repeatable age-up reward and can defend the site long enough to complete the research.
Civilization-specific reward examples
A copied age-up reward is not identical across all civilizations. At the Exploration Age, The Logistician can grant an Arsenal Wagon, Military Wagon or both depending on the chosen civilization; The Quartermaster’s four Cords of Wood can be repeated as a resource reward. In the Fortress Age, The Adventurer’s Longbowmen, Pavisier, Streltsy or Crossbowmen differ by nation, while the Admiral can return with a Caravel, Order Galley or Galley and Wood. At Industrial Age, The Cavalry Marshal yields national cavalry such as Ruyters, Uhlans, Cuirassiers, Dragoons, Cossacks, Lancers or Hakkapelits. These examples show why the player must check the actual age-up choice rather than assume one common shipment.
Research planning checklist
Before spending the 200 Food, 200 Wood and 200 Coin, confirm that the House of Jagiellon palace is connected to a usable Trading Post or Tambo, that the intended earlier age-up produced a repeatable reward and that the player has room for additional units. In a defensive situation, completing another unit group can help stabilize the line; in a safe position, another crate or Settler group can compound the economy. Keep enough population space and resource gatherers available for the result. The Industrial and Imperial research times are longer, so start them only when the site can remain safe during the delay.
Technology limitations
Jagiellonian Legacy does not refund its cost when a reward cannot be applied. A one-time research discount, unlock or upgrade is not repeated as though it were a shipment. A special hero may be excluded or replaced by a standard reward if the scenario treats that hero as unique. It also does not create unrestricted access to another civilization’s age-up pool. The technology copies what the player actually received through the applicable age-up path, so it remains limited by civilization, selected politician and mode. This distinction prevents confusion between the broad in-game description and the detailed edge cases listed for particular rewards.
Why site control matters
The research location is a Trading Post or Tambo attached to the House of Jagiellon palace. That makes the technology dependent on map access, not merely on reaching the Fortress Age. If an opponent can capture or destroy the site, the investment is vulnerable. Place nearby defenses or keep the army in supporting range, especially when the Palace is in a contested central area. A safe outer site may take longer to defend but can let the research complete without interrupting ordinary production. The player should count the value of a repeated shipment against the cost of claiming and protecting the settlement.
Examples of poor and strong returns
Repeating a small resource reward can be worthwhile when it completes a building or age-up, but it is less attractive if the same resources would sit uncollected. Repeating an artillery shipment can create an immediate push, provided the player has population room and a protected firing line. Repeating a unique unlock or research discount is not possible under the technology’s effect. Before selecting a politician, compare the reward with the technology’s 600-resource cost and the 60–120-second research window. A strong second delivery can repay the investment; a weak or non-repeatable bonus cannot.
Player checklist
Confirm the House of Jagiellon location, identify the age-up reward to copy, ensure the Trading Post or Tambo is safe, leave room for the arriving units and plan what the army will do when they arrive. If any of these conditions is missing, wait or spend the resources elsewhere.
Finish the research at the right age
Because the timer increases at later ages, decide in advance whether the next age-up is likely to provide enough value to justify research then. An earlier repeat may be faster and can support later choices, while a delayed repeat gives access to more powerful rewards. The best window is the one where the player can complete research safely and immediately use the copied reward.
Repeat the rewards from age advancement
Jagiellonian Legacy is a Polish technology that grants again the units and resources received from age-up researches. Its payoff depends on the earlier age-up selections: choose rewards with units or resources that remain useful, then research the Legacy when the duplicated package will still affect the match. This can create a substantial reinforcement or economic swing, but it requires a significant investment and research time. The documented cost is 200 Food, 200 Wood and 200 Coin, with the time varying by age.
Plan the palace research around the next fight
The technology is researched through the applicable House of Jagiellon palace option and can be available across later ages. Because it repeats age-up benefits rather than granting an arbitrary new army, the earlier choices determine its value. Do not delay a needed military response simply to save for it; use it when the position is stable enough for the research to complete and the duplicated reward can arrive in time. Check the current Polish age-up route and game version, since palace availability and timing affect whether the investment is practical.
Reported reward mismatches
The Wiki documents several cases where the copied age-up reward does not match its intended amount or unit. The Cavalry Marshal can send 5 Hussars instead of the Ottomans’ intended Delis. The King’s Musketeer can send 13 Musketeers instead of the Russians’ intended Rekruts. The Warrior sends 5 Skull Knights in the Commerce Age and none in the Fortress Age, rather than 2 and 3. For Chinese players, Temple of Heaven gives 3 Town Rickshaws in the Fortress Age and 1 Rice Paddy Rickshaw in the Industrial Age, instead of 1 and 3. United States choices New Jersey and Ohio can return 2 Horse Artillery for one state and no unit for the other, rather than 1 each; Illinois and Connecticut can return 6 Huge Cords of Wood for one and none for the other, rather than 3 each. The Somali or Sudanese alliance can return 4 Tokens of Influence in the Commerce Age instead of 3, while the Habesha Alliance can return 2 Coin chests instead of 3. These are documented implementation discrepancies, so check the current game version before relying on a specific copied shipment.
