Indians technology tree
The Indians technology tree index links recorded Age of Empires III units, buildings and research to their individual reference pages. It emphasizes entries whose game data directly identifies this faction and is not a complete reconstruction of every shared option in the in-game tree; check unit and technology pages for additional civilization access.

Civilization roster and research
The lists are grouped into units, buildings and technologies, then organized by the Age recorded in the game data. Shared options can appear in more than one civilization index; inclusion does not mean an item is unique. Follow an entry to check its cost, production or research site, prerequisites, counters and version band. A Home City Card, map alliance or scenario rule may change access, so this list is not a fixed build order.
Scope and availability
Scope: Age of Empires III civilization content. This index reflects matching entries in the saved game-fact records; each linked page gives its own version, Age and access conditions.
How to read the tree
Use the tree when planning an Age-up, Home City deck or response to an opponent. Find the unit line or upgrade that answers the immediate matchup, then check its entry for exact values and access rules. Map, mode, shipments, patch and edition determine which recorded options are useful in a particular match.

Check the entry for version and prerequisites
An index can include options recorded across multiple Age of Empires III releases. Older faction names, card unlocks, research prerequisites and campaign-only rules can change availability. Check the linked page’s version band and conditions before applying an option to a specific game.
Wood demand and shipment income shape the economy
Indian Villagers cost Wood rather than Food, so early worker growth competes directly with Houses, production buildings and upgrades. They cannot slaughter herdable livestock for Food; assigning those animals to the Sacred Field yields Experience instead. A standard Home City shipment also includes a Hindu Villager, except for TEAM and INFINITE shipments, while the Indian shipment threshold is higher. These rules mean that wood access, shipment timing and Sacred Field use belong beside the unit list when planning the economy. The exact shipment and cost rules should be read with the current edition entry.
Barracks, Caravanserai and Castle provide distinct army lines
The Barracks trains Rajputs, Sepoys and Gurkhas, whose successive Indian upgrade ranks are Disciplined, Honored and Exalted. The Caravanserai adds mobile cavalry and elephant options, including Sowars, Zamburaks, Mahout Lancers and Howdahs, with age-linked rank upgrades. The Castle provides Flail Elephants and Siege Elephants. These branches are not interchangeable: infantry, ranged camel cavalry and elephants occupy different tactical roles and use different building access. Check the individual unit pages for exact attack, population and counter data before choosing an age-up or shipment around one branch.
Wonders are the Indian age-up choices
Indians advance through Wonders rather than a European Politician choice. The tree lists the Agra Fort, Charminar Gate, Karni Mata, Taj Mahal and Tower of Victory as age-up buildings; the chosen Wonder supplies its own benefit when completed. Their effects are not interchangeable, so compare the linked Wonder entries with the immediate army or economic need before committing builders. The age-up building also becomes part of the battlefield layout and may need protection after the advance.
Read allied and Asian options separately
The Indian tree combines civilization units with options accessed through buildings such as the Consulate, Monastery, Caravanserai, Castle, Rice Paddy, Sacred Field and Dock. A Consulate alliance can add foreign units or research for Export, while the Asian military and Wonder system governs the Indian core. A unit appearing in the tree may therefore depend on an alliance, card, Age or expansion rule instead of ordinary training. Follow each entry to confirm its access route, then distinguish regular production from shipments and scenario-specific options.
