Chinese technology tree
The Chinese technology tree index links recorded Age of Empires III units, buildings and research to their individual reference pages. It emphasizes entries whose game data directly identifies this faction and is not a complete reconstruction of every shared option in the in-game tree; check unit and technology pages for additional civilization access.

Civilization roster and research
The lists are grouped into units, buildings and technologies, then organized by the Age recorded in the game data. Shared options can appear in more than one civilization index; inclusion does not mean an item is unique. Follow an entry to check its cost, production or research site, prerequisites, counters and version band. A Home City Card, map alliance or scenario rule may change access, so this list is not a fixed build order.
Scope and availability
Scope: Age of Empires III civilization content. This index reflects matching entries in the saved game-fact records; each linked page gives its own version, Age and access conditions.
How to read the tree
Use the tree when planning an Age-up, Home City deck or response to an opponent. Find the unit line or upgrade that answers the immediate matchup, then check its entry for exact values and access rules. Map, mode, shipments, patch and edition determine which recorded options are useful in a particular match.

Check the entry for version and prerequisites
An index can include options recorded across multiple Age of Empires III releases. Older faction names, card unlocks, research prerequisites and campaign-only rules can change availability. Check the linked page’s version band and conditions before applying an option to a specific game.
Banner Armies are the core War Academy choice
The Chinese War Academy combines the role of Barracks and Stable, but it does not train every soldier as an isolated unit. It produces Banner Armies: predefined mixed groups of infantry and cavalry whose composition depends on the selected army. The listed families include Old Han Army, Territorial Army, Standard Army, Forbidden Army, Ming Army, Mongolian Army and Imperial Army. Because each choice brings a set rather than a single counter unit, inspect its exact roster before queuing it and use the individual entries to see which target types that bundle can answer. The building also houses Chinese infantry and cavalry upgrades.
Villages combine population, livestock and shipment functions
A Village is more than a House in the Chinese tree. It supports population, can train Goats and fattens livestock, and serves as a Home City shipment arrival point. Its upgrades can expand population support. Village placement therefore affects both housing and the location where a shipment arrives; protect the structure and consider whether its position supports the army and economy rather than placing every Village in an exposed forward line.
Five Wonders provide different age-up benefits
The Chinese advance through Wonders. The Confucian Academy generates Flying Crow artillery, the Porcelain Tower generates resources that can be configured, and the Summer Palace produces Banner Armies. The Temple of Heaven provides the Transcendence healing ability, while the White Pagoda strengthens the Shaolin Master and Disciple. These options support different economic and military plans, so compare the required immediate resource or army role before choosing an age-up; the effects belong to the completed Wonder and are not interchangeable.
Build around the wide Asian roster and Export
The War Academy is only one part of the roster. Castle access adds units such as Flamethrowers and Hand Mortars, while the Dock and Monastery provide naval and special-unit options. Chinese Villagers also gather Export as they work, and the Consulate can exchange that resource for an alliance, units or technologies. This creates several ways to answer an opponent, but each depends on a different building, army group or alliance. Check the linked unit and technology entries for access conditions and the active Age before treating an option as immediately available.
